Science proves the Bible is TRUE - BLOOD, bloodletting

God told us in his word, The Holy Bible, that blood was the source of life.

Read it in Leviticus 17:13 & 14

Many years ago physicians, doctors believed that people had too much blood. They would perform a practice called bleeding or bloodletting. The theory behind the practice changed often over time, but the practice itself remained much the same -- with doctors often bleeding patients This was thought to help with migraine headaches and numerous other issues.

They would attach leeches, you know those little blood sucker creatures, to their patients.

The leeches of course would attach themselves to the patients and suck their blood out.

It is odd that some people actually did feel better after words. Or did they just say that so the doctor would get the leeches off of them!

In extreme cases they would deliberately cut the patient and make them bleed until they were weak, and, sometimes, even pass out.

President George Washington had taken ill with laryngitis, bloodletting was top of the line medical science back then, President George Washington's physicians, he had several, performed the bloodletting procedure on him. I believe I read that more than 2 liters of blood were bled out of him. Not all at once, but several times throught the day and night, he was given the procedure. The next day he died.

The actual cause of President George Washington’s death is still being debated.

We know about the bloodletting of President George Washington because we have the presidents physician's notes where the treatment was written down and recorded.

Today it seems totally barbaric, even crazy, but, it is true, they used to believe this would actually help people. In some places and for various reasons the practice is still used even today.

There were some who would die because they actually bleed to death. Some people would die because they would get diseases from their wounds and die.

The doctors never really thought it was the bleeding that caused the deaths, they thought it was what ever the patient had to begin with that caused their death.

Today we know that our blood is necessary. Life is truly in the blood, just as God had told us many years ago in His written word, the HOLY BIBLE.

At present we know about some of them and we call them bloodborne pathogens, It means diseses that can be in a persons blood and can be transmitting, or given to another person by touching or coming in contact with another persons blood that has the disease.

Some of these include Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS. It is very important for people who may come in contact with any ones blood to protect themselves with, gloves, masks and other personal protection gear.

Some of the people who may be at risk include, ambulance personnel, firemen, EMTS, nurses, doctors, and other healthcare providers.

Even a school nurse or a babysitter should wear gloves when ever blood is involved.
